Screenwriter Gabriella Apicella writes stories about edgy female characters that are transgressive, unpredictable and believable.

Her first feature film script, “The Girlfriend Killers” is gaining interest whilst she works towards getting it optioned and work continues on two other feature-length scripts.

She is a founder member of UnderWire, alongside Producer Gemma Mitchell, which will have its inaugural short film festival recognising raw female filmmaking talent in November 2010.

January 2010 saw the launch of her monthly storytelling event Storytails, that takes place in Gabriella's local area of Stoke Newington.  This event supports local charities and is open to both  professional and non-professional writers.  Storytails also featured as part of the first Stoke Newington Literary Festival in June.

Two short films written by Gabriella are currently in post production, and she has written for experimental theatre projects.  A Sound Art Installation with prose written by Gabriella was exhibited as part of "Noise Control" at Bethnal Green's Image Music Text Gallery at the end of 2009.

Gabriella is on the board of Euroscript, for whom she regularly produces script reports.  Since September 2009 she has been working as a Sessional Lecturer in Screenwriting at Birkbeck College, University of London, and also delivers courses on Screenwriting and Creative Writing at CSSC London (Civil Service Sports Council).

This Summer she has been working with young people as part of the START project at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith, teaching literacy skills.

She also writes for the Arts Council funded paper and website Notes from the Underground, and National events listings site Remote Goat
