Introduction to Screenwriting - (10 x 2 hour sessions) This intensive ten-week course will take students from Outline, to Treatment, to the first full draft of their own short film, whilst covering the essential practices of Screenwriting. There will be dedicated sessions on: - Characterisation - Plot - Dialogue - Structure These sessions will assist students as they develop the Outline and Treatment for their short film idea leading to the production of an original ten-minute short film script. Before coming to the course students do not need to know anything about Screenwriting, but should have some ideas in mind for what their short film could be about.
Testimonials : "The course has inspired me to start writing" Introduction to Creative Writing - (6 x 2 hour sessions) The essential elements of creative writing are covered, including: -
The main focus of this course will be on producing a piece of prose, however previous students have chosen instead to produce script and poetry instead – both of these topics are covered briefly. This is a beginner’s course so students need not have produced any work before attending. They should come to the first class with a couple of ideas of what they might like to write about however. There is optional homework throughout the course that will also assist students in getting the most out of the classes. Testimonials: "I found the course very useful and it has re-focussed me on writing completely." "I now feel equipped and confident to begin writing fiction." "[the course] has helped me greatly in completing a short story." |
